It was smiles all round when Roxby Downs Health Service director of nursing Janine Connell officially opened the new Bilby Room at Roxby Downs Health Service recently.
Building Healthy Communities project officer Karen Russell, community health nurse Petra Noble and child and family health nurse Ruth Baillie put the room together and have decorated it with brightly coloured designs to make the best of limited space.
“The only thing we had any argument about was the spots,” Karen said at the launch ceremony.
“But we compromised and now we have a friendly bright space to do anything from one on one interviews to group work sessions,” she said.
The Bilby Room will also be used for therapy groups and parent education.
“Our vision for the room includes bean bags and a flat screen so we can show clients educational DVDs,” Petra said.
“A lot of our primary health care information comes through video material,” she said.
“This room will make that process much more comfortable for our family clients.”
The launch of the Bilby Room coincided with Mental Health Week and representatives from Country Health SA and Uniting Care Wesley were present at the official opening.
