Cleaning up with the ‘fat controller’

23 Feb, 2012 10:18 AM
Roxby resident Steve Moss has been coordinating Clean Up Australia Day in Roxby Downs since 2005 and said the success is due to community involvement.

“I register us and find a few sponsors,” he said.

BSH waste solutions is also asked to supply the bins.

“The town does it, I’m just the fat controller standing there directing traffic.”

A lot has changed over the years since Mr Moss first coordinated Clean Up Australia Day.

“When I first came to town in 2004 I was surprised at how untidy the town was, there was a lot of rubbish around, the dump was a mess, there was rubbish all the way down the highway to the airport,” he said.
