Grant for Arid Recovery programs

27 Jan, 2012 10:01 AM
Members of Arid Recovery were all smiles last week after discovering they were the recipient of a $6,400 grant.

Arid Recovery’s volunteer and community coordinator Hannah Spronk said the funding would enable the organisation to better educate the local community and tourists travelling to South Australia about the importance of the often-forgotten arid ecosystem.

“By raising awareness of our cause, support and involvement in our conservation efforts is also increasing,” Ms Spronk said.

The funding granted by Optus Regional Community Program has been planned to go towards radio tracking collars and tags for the area’s native animals to better understand the unique environment and to improve Arid Recovery’s conservation strategies.
