Living the Roxby life

Rachel Young has been named the Citizen of the Year for Roxby?Downs at the 2012 Australia Day ceremony.

The award was in recognition of her impressive dedication to the community of Roxby Downs and her fearless enthusiasm for her art.

It was 24 years ago when Ms Young worked as a part-time gym instructor and lifeguard at the pool in Roxby Downs, while juggling her time as a mother to four children and studying nights to complete her correspondence course in Business Management.

“Together with her husband Mark, and her children, Joel, Madeline, and her twins Millie and Luke, Ms Young has been a long-time resident in Roxby Downs.

Before earning a degree in Business Management, Ms Young graduated in fine arts, specializing in jewellery design, and professed to be first and foremost an artist with a natural love of creating things from her observation of nature.
