Andamooka is officially moving forward with a new management plan.
Paid professionals would be hired to manage the community for the first time in its history.
This would relieve the pressure from dedicated volunteers who sometimes lack the expertise to manage the many aspects of a growing community.
APOMA chairperson Peter Allen said volunteers in Andamooka had become Jacks of all trades.
He said they took up responsibilities that ranged from cat catching, weeding, road works, building the cemetery, and whatever else that was needed to be done.
“We have had to develop a bit of understanding of everything that was going on, which could be quite difficult,” Mr Allen said.
