To raise awareness for Threatened Species Week, this week, and National Bilby Day on Sunday, Arid Recovery will be hosting Outback Roast Under the Stars on Friday night.
Friends of Arid Recovery volunteer, Kimberley Jarman, said Threatened Species Week is about helping people, young and old, to understand there are a number of important issues that need to be managed to conserve Australia's threatened species.
“Everyone has the chance to become involved in Threatened Species Week and become more aware of what can be done to help conserve some of Australia's unique flora and fauna,” she said.
Malcolm Douglas will be celebrity guest for Outback Roast Under the Stars and the evening will feature a pre-dinner sunset walk, a roast dinner under the stars and an opportunity for people to experience the arid zone in a different light.
All proceeds raised from the night will go towards the translocation of western barred bandicoots from Western Australia, as well as Threatened Species Week activities such as educational programs.
The event will be held at the Arid Recovery Reserve off the Borefield Road and people of all ages are encouraged to attend.
