The expansion: differing opinions

19 Jan, 2012 10:30 AM
The BHP Billiton expansion process is a complex topic with many interwoven subjects that are easy to get confused with.

As the expansion process kicks into gear and the town develops, locals expect there will be a need for more services in town; for example an extension to the schools.

“It’ll definitely bring in more kids and families,” said retail assistant Sarah Hayball.

“We’ll need to expand the schools to make room for the influx of students.”

Conversely, Roxby resident Alison Crompton said that housing would be a problem for families, with rents promising to peak even higher than they already are.

“I have a friend whose rent has just increased by $100 per week which is going to make it really hard for her,” Ms Crompton said.
