10 Feb, 2010 02:36 PM
About 300 spectators flocked to Red Dunes Raceway Saturday night to watch the Roxby Downs Sporting Car Club kick off its first race meeting for 2010.

Club committee member Kat McKinnon said the night was a big success.

“We had a great night, the weather was perfect, we enjoyed some fast close racing and the burnout boys gave a great display.

“The coloured smoke from Michael Girdham’s Commodore wagon was a crowd pleaser.”

Five laps around the track with Ceduna driver Greg Limbert was auctioned off on the night.

“It was also a highlight to see drivers from other clubs from around the State compete at our track.”

Eight drivers from travelled from Ceduna, Whyalla, and Port Augusta to compete and practice for the State title championships.

“Don’t forget State titles are here on the March long weekend.

“There is racing Saturday night under lights and then Sunday afternoon with a presentation to follow.”

The titles will be held at the raceway from March 6-7.

Admission is $10 and will get you through the gate on both days.
