Finey clinches win with knock out

05 Aug, 2010 12:46 PM
Roxby boxers Steve Finey and Stuart Orr ventured to Whyalla recently to duke it out in a boxing tournament in front of 800 people. Coach Steve Rudd reports:

Finey and Orr went to Whyalla on the weekend to fight in front of an 800 strong crowd

Orr did an exhibition with a lad by the name of Shaun Schaaf, who had 10 more fights more than him and was two years older (17) from Whyalla.

He did very well with his long reach and fast hands.

He moved around the ring very well. He just keeps getting better and better.

Finey was the main event and did not disappoint he came up against Chris Reid from Whyalla, who was having his sixth fight

With the 800 people behind the home boy, Finey came out fast with long left right jabs, pushing Reid back.

The whole fight Finey pushed Reid up and down the ropes until the third round where Finey uppercut Reid and broke his nose and put him on the ground.

The umpire stopped the fight for a TKO (Technical Knock Out) win to Finey.

It earnt Finey the “fight of the night”.

Coach Steve Rudd was very happy with the way the boys performed as they both listened well and executed what we had trained leading up to the fights.
