Between 500 to 800 spectators flocked to Red Dunes Raceway on the weekend as the Roxby Downs Sporting Car Club (RDSCC) hosted round one of the state title championships.
More than 80 drivers from clubs all over the state competed and started arriving Friday night for practice.

Presentations and a barbecue dinner were held Sunday night where David Carr cleaned up with first place, fastest short course time, and best presented in the street stock division.
Club publicity officer Deb Beenham said the event ran smoothly and there were no major incidents or injuries.
“The hard and fast racing all weekend was very entertaining,” she said.
“The Roxby Rocket came out during the break on Sunday to take all the kids out for a ride around the track which is always a huge hit.”
It was the first time a championship round was held over two days and Ms Beenham said the club had received positive feedback.
“The event was certainly a success as everything ran very smoothly and everyone including the drivers and spectators had a great weekend,” she said.
“The club is very happy with the way the event was run.
“There was a lot of time and effort put into organising prior to and during running of this event.
“Thank you to all those people that volunteered their help in any way.”
Whyalla took out the Duns Brothers Trophy after scoring the highest points for their team over two rounds.
