Roxby Softball Club desperately need more players or it will be forced to fold before the September finals.
The club is holding a come and try day this Sunday at 11.30am in one last attempt to save the mixed competition.
Since the season kicked off in May, numbers have dropped from a healthy 60 people making up five teams, to struggling to get enough to fill two teams each week.
A spokeswoman for the softball committee said she would be extremely disappointed if the competition folded.
“Softball is such a great sport, everyone has a great time during the games but not many people even know it’s played in Roxby Downs,” she said.
“This season has been fantastic up until recently, we had really strong numbers and most were new to the sport.
“Unfortunately although we saw huge recruitment in new players, it is not enough to make up for the amount who have left town or moved on throughout the season.
“All you need to bring this Sunday is a water bottle, the club provides all the equipment you need and you don’t need any experience to have a go.
“I would encourage anyone over 12 to come along and join in the fun social atmosphere, we are crossing our fingers this Sunday’s event will save the competition.”
