Time to get fired up for football

17 Feb, 2010 01:34 PM
About 40 people flocked to the Roxby pool on Sunday for Andamooka football club’s “Meet the Coach” day.

The traditional event is held every year to give club members, sponsors, supporters, volunteers, players and their families a chance to meet new coaches and discuss ideas for the upcoming season.

Craig Wyatt is Andamooka’s head coach this year with assistant coach Craig Paull by his side.

Club secretary Therese Schofield said the day was a great success.

“It was great, the weather was beautiful and all in all everyone had a good time,” she said.

Club player Shane Matulick won the lucky door prize full of gifts donated from Andamooka and Roxby businesses and the kids had lots of fun in the pool.

Although pre-season training has just begun, Ms Schofield said the players were training very hard and “looking good”.

“It was good to see a lot of blue out there. The team looks encouraging, there’s a lot of good feel out there at the moment.”

However the club is always happy to welcome new players.

Anyone interested in playing football for the club can contact Ian Touhy on 0408 925 854 or Craig Wyatt on 0427 604 358.
